The Club Committee, together with members, are enthusiastically active in arranging special events throughout the year. For example, those planned for this year include theatre, concert, museum and art gallery visits, lectures, wine tasting (!), croquet, treasure hunt, interesting walks, "Martinsgans" dinner as well as the usual festive celebrations - a Christmas party including mince pies, Christmas pudding and mistletoe!
Of course there is our regular pub meeting once a month at a central location (a popular "English Pub") to meet up and keep in touch.
In addition, a monthly Sunday lunch (or brunch) is also usually on offer at a changing location to sample Hamburg’s varied culinary delights.
Each summer we sacrifice a small amount of sausages (including vegetarian ones), steaks and salads to a very pleasant evening barbecue (which may take place on either sand, grass, or water!).
The Club is a regular at the annual British Days where we have an information stand as well as a highly popular Welly-Throwing stand (the proceeds from which being donated to charity).
The club also arranges weekend or day excursions with guided tours in English where possible. Previous destinations have included Potsdam, Dresden, Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum (in Bremerhaven), Worpswede, Schloss Glücksburg, the Freilichtmuseum Molfsee, and Celle.
For the dancers among you, we have a Grand Ball towards the end of the year, which is held in one of Hamburg's top hotels. In the last couple of years this has been jointly held with various other British Clubs in Hamburg after an initiative from the Hamburg British Consul General.
Any suggestions for events are always appreciated.
Any digital photos of club events which are suitable for publication on the web site are also welcome. Contact Bill (Chairman) or Nigel (Webmaster)
