The British Club Hamburg, founded in 1947 by members of the British armed forces stationed in the city at that time as an automobile club, is one of the oldest clubs for English speakers in Hamburg. Membership is made up primarily of British nationals living in and around Hamburg, as well as German, and other nationals with strong British connections. The working language of the Club is English.

The Club does not have a clubhouse, instead, it actively tries to sample the huge range of venues that Hamburg and it’s surroundings, has to offer. Although, to provide  some continuity, the Club meets regularly once a month at a central venue for a pleasant, informal, and friendly evening.

The Club is a non-profit making organisation, with club funds being used to pay for running costs and subsidise club events. Members receive monthly newsletters, contact with British nationals (for those with German partners, a chance to keep up their English!) and a lively social events programme.

If you’re not sure if this sounds like the right thing for you, why not get in touch and come along to one of our social evenings and give it a go.
